About DRC New Zealand

Bishop's Message

I am pleased to welcome the Divine Retreat Centre (DRC) Movement New Zealand, as an Apostolate of the Diocese of Auckland. I pray that the Holy Spirit fills each one of you in your endeavour to live by your Mission Statement, Vision, Motto and Practical Ways of Spirituality.

The Mission Statement of DRC Movement is to announce Christ to the world, to reach out and become true witnesses for Christ.

The Vision of the DRC Movement in NZ aims at leading all men and women of goodwill to an intimate union with the Lord through His Word and the Sacraments of the Church.

"Abide in Me, and I in you" (Jn.15:4), is an invitation and promise that Jesus extends to everyone who wants to make life heavenly.

May God bless the various Ministries in the Apostolate and assuring you of my prayers and best wishes.

Bishop Patrick Dunn,
Bishop of Auckland

Our History

The DRC Movement, New Zealand, is an off-shoot of the main Divine Retreat Centre, Potta, India, which is one of the largest Catholic retreat centres in the world. Since 1990, over 10 million pilgrims from all over the world have attended retreats here. Weekly retreats in 7 languages are held continuously every week of the year.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine Vallooran, a Vincentian Catholic priest, is the current Director of DRC Potta, India, and is the Spiritual Director of DRC Movement in New Zealand.

Mr Wenceslaus Anthony was the Founder of DRC NZ and Mr Brian Fernandes is the current Chairman.

The DRC Movement, New Zealand, began in Auckland on the 24th October 2004 by a small group of committed Catholics. They wanted to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ not only for themselves, but also to share the Good News, just as Jesus commanded, to the ends of the world based on the spiritual concepts and guidelines of DRC, Potta, India.

Our Motto

"Be not afraid. He is with us always. Follow Him."
